Petra National Trust

The Petra National Trust (PNT) is a Jordanian nongovernmental organization that began in 1989. Its main goal is to protect and preserve the amazing ancient city of Petra, which is a special place recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The PNT has helped with many important projects. These include studying the old water systems made by the Nabataean people, looking at the plants and animals in the area, and making sure the narrow pathway called the Siq stays safe. They have also worked on keeping the beautiful wall paintings at Beidha safe.

In addition to these projects, the PNT helps train workers at the Petra Archaeological Park and teaches local people about the importance of protecting Petra’s natural and cultural treasures. Princess Majda Ra'ad was one of the people who helped start the trust.
