Poseidon (roller coaster)

Poseidon is a special kind of roller coaster where riders go through water. It is located at Europa-Park in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the area that looks like ancient Greece. The ride is named after Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea.

Poseidon was the first water roller coaster to open in Europe. It was built by a company called Mack Rides, which has made twelve of these water roller coasters around the world. This unique ride gives visitors a fun and exciting way to enjoy the theme park.

Ride experience

Riders sit in boats that move along a roller coaster track and also float through water channels. Most of the water parts go through an artificial lake.

The ride has two parts on the track and three parts on the water:

1. After leaving the station, the boats go through the first water part next to the line.
2. The first track part has a 23-meter lift hill and sharp turns, passing under a model of the Trojan Horse before splashing into the lake.
3. The second water part turns the boats widely through the lake.
4. The second track part has a 20-meter lift hill, a slow right turn, a drop into a tunnel, and a small hill before another splashdown.
5. The third water part brings riders back around the lake to the station.

There are brakes after almost every track section to keep boats a safe distance apart. The ride lasts about 5 to 6 minutes.

The ride's station looks like an ancient Greek temple, and the line goes through the temple. The ride's water sections fill the lake next to the Greek village area of the park.
