The premier of Nova Scotia is the main leader of the government in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. This leader works with the lieutenant governor and leads the group that helps run the province, called the Executive Council of Nova Scotia. The premier is usually the leader of the political party that wins the most seats in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly.

Right now, the premier of Nova Scotia is Tim Houston. He began his role on August 31, 2021. He leads the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia, which was elected in August 2021. As premier, he has a lot of power in making decisions for the province.

Responsibilities

The premier is the leader of the government in Nova Scotia. They serve as the president of the Executive Council, also known as the Cabinet. The premier chooses the other members of the Cabinet, and the lieutenant governor appoints them. In this role, the premier helps form the government and leads the decisions of the Executive Council. The premier works on creating and carrying out the government's main plans and policies. They also decide how the Executive Council operates and organizes its work.
