Queen City Pride is a happy celebration that happens every year in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. This event is part of the LGBT pride festivals and takes place in mid-June, usually the week after Saskatoon Pride. It is organized by Regina Pride Inc., a group that works to support everyone in the community.

The celebration starts with a special moment when the rainbow flag is raised at the Regina City Hall on the Monday of Pride Week. The event ends with a fun parade and a community fair on Saturday. Every year, about 3,000 to 4,000 people come together to enjoy and show their support.

History

The Queen City Pride event started on June 23, 1990, although smaller pride events happened in Regina during the 1970s and 1980s. At first, the police chief did not allow the event, but people still held the march. Between 50 and 90 people joined, and some hid their faces because they were worried about being recognized.

In 2014, the mayor of the city, Michael Fougere, raised a special rainbow flag to start the event for the first time. By 2017, almost 2,000 people attended. The event did not happen in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it came back in 2022 with the theme "Together Again." In 2024, the event did not raise the flag and asked certain government members not to join because of new rules that affected the LGBT community.
