Quicuchabe
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
The Quicuchabe were one of 20 groups of American Indians who traveled with explorer Juan Domínguez de Mendoza as he crossed Texas between 1683 and 1684. Mendoza’s journey started near El Paso and ended around the area that is now San Angelo. We do not know exactly when the Quicuchabe joined Mendoza or where they came from.
Because other tribes in the area between the Pecos River and near San Angelo were being pushed away by the Apache, the Quicuchabe probably lived somewhere in that same region. Their story helps us learn about the many Native American groups who lived in Texas long ago.
