The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a large church group that follows the teachings of the holiness pentecostal tradition. It started in Nigeria and has grown to become one of the biggest church groups in the world. The church has centers in 197 countries and has over 9 million members worldwide, with more than 5 million in Nigeria alone.

The main home of the church is called Redemption City of God, located in Mowe, in Ogun State, Nigeria. After the church's founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, passed away in 1980, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, who used to be a university teacher, became the leader of the church in 1981. Under his guidance, the church grew very quickly and reached many parts of the world.

History

The Redeemed Christian Church of God started in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi. Pastor E.A. Adeboye, who taught mathematics at the University of Lagos, joined the church in 1973 and became its leader in 1981 after Akindayomi passed away.

The church grew quickly and by 2024, it had churches in over 190 countries. It holds special services each month and big conventions in August and December.

Beliefs

The Redeemed Christian Church of God believes in the Bible and the Holy Trinity. They teach that God created humans in His image and that people can find forgiveness and healing through faith and prayer. The church also helps others through its charity work, supporting education, health, and community projects through His Love Foundation.
