The Regina Thunder, originally called the Prairie Thunder, are a junior football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. They play in the Prairie Football Conference, which includes six teams from the three prairie provinces. This conference is part of the larger Canadian Junior Football League, where they compete against teams from Ontario and British Columbia in national championships.

Every year, the Regina Thunder face their big rivals, the Saskatoon Hilltops, in a special game for a trophy called the Shrine Bowl. This award goes to the team that earns the most points from their two regular season matches against each other.

In 2013, it was a great year for the Thunder. They beat the three-time defending champions of the CJFL with a score of 21-16 in Saskatoon. Later, they won the CJFL championship by defeating the V.I. Raiders 55-26 in Regina.

Notable Thunder alumni

Many players from the Regina Thunder have gone on to play for professional teams. Some of these players include Jeff Yorga, who played as an offensive lineman for the Toronto Argonauts, and Chris Getzlaf, who was a receiver for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Others, like Stu Foord and Paul Woldu, also played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in different positions. Ivan Brown played as a defensive lineman for the Montreal Alouettes, and Rory Kohlert was a receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
