Second Schröder cabinet

The Second Schröder cabinet was the 19th Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. It served from 22 October 2002 until November 2005. This cabinet came after the 2002 elections and was led by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder.
It had 13 departments, which was one fewer than the previous cabinet. Schröder continued working with a coalition of his Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Alliance 90/The Greens. Joschka Fischer from the Greens served as Vice Chancellor of Germany and as the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After the 2005 elections, this cabinet was succeeded by the First Merkel cabinet. This period was important for Germany as it dealt with many national and international challenges.
