Shōnan–Shinjuku Line
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
The Shōnan–Shinjuku Line (Japanese: 湘南新宿ライン, romanized: Shōnan–shinjuku-rain) is a special train service in Japan that began in December 2001. It connects many important places by using parts of several other train lines, including the Ryōmō Line, Takasaki Line, Utsunomiya Line, Yamanote freight line, Yokosuka Line, and Tōkaidō Main Line. Even though it shares tracks with these lines, the Shōnan–Shinjuku Line is shown as its own service on maps and stations, making travel easier for many people. This service helps connect cities like Tokyo with areas farther away, offering a convenient way to travel across different parts of the country.
Services
The Shōnan–Shinjuku Line started offering train services on December 1, 2001. It uses tracks shared with other railway lines but acts like its own special service for passengers.
There are different types of trains on this line. Some trains stop at every station, while others skip a few. Trains run about once every hour, with more during busy times like mornings and evenings. The trains show different colors on their displays to help passengers know which service they are on.
