Staffelsee
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
The Staffelsee is a beautiful lake found in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district of Bavaria, Germany. Near the lake, you can find the towns of Murnau, Seehausen, and Uffing. The lake covers an area of 7 km2 and has seven small islands. The biggest island, called Wörth, was once home to an old monastery from the 8th century.
During the warmer months, from April to October, people can enjoy boat rides on a ship named the MS Seehausen. This boat was built in 2009 and stops at different places around the lake. The lake sits about 649 metres above sea level and its deepest point is roughly 40 metres deep.
The lake’s water comes in and flows out through the River Ach. The river flows into the lake from the west and leaves to the north. Different parts of the lake have special names: the northeastern part is called Untersee, the southeastern part is Stegsee, and the southwestern part is known as Obersee.
