State Fair Classic

The State Fair Classic is an exciting annual college football game. It features the Grambling State University Tigers and the Prairie View A&M University Panthers, both teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. This special game takes place at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas, during the State Fair of Texas.

The match is usually held on a weekend just before another famous game called the Red River Rivalry. Over the years, other football games have also been part of the state fair, such as the Heart of Dallas Classic and the State Fair Football Showdown, which included other teams from the SWAC like Southern and Texas Southern.

History

The State Fair Classic is a special football game that happens every year at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. It started in 1925 with two teams, Wiley College and Langston University, playing to a tie in front of 5,000 fans. Over the years, different teams have played, but since 1992, it has been between Grambling State University and Prairie View A&M University.

The game is part of the State Fair of Texas and includes many fun events like concerts, lunch meets, and band performances. It helps the local economy by bringing in around $8.5 million each year. In 2017, over 55,000 people attended, making it one of the biggest college football games in Texas.
