Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic

The Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR was the highest authority in the Karelo-Finnish SSR. It started in June 1940 when the government of the Karelian ASSR decided to change its status and become the Karelo-Finnish SSR. The first elections happened on June 16, 1940, and the first meeting took place on November 8, 1940. This group helped make important decisions for the area until it was disbanded in August 1956. At that time, the Karelo-Finnish SSR was changed back into an autonomous soviet socialist republic.
Convocations
The Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR had four main periods during its time:
- 1st Convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR (1940-1947)
- 2nd Convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR (1947-1951)
- 3rd Convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR (1951-1955)
- 4th Convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the Karelo-Finnish SSR (1955-1956)
