The Tajik Parliament House in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, is an important government building located in the heart of the city.

The Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR was the highest authority in the Tajik SSR, a part of the Soviet Union. It acted as the main governing body for the republic. However, it did not have much real power because it followed the instructions of the Communist Party of Tajikistan.

During a time of change in the Soviet Union called glasnost and perestroika, democratic elections were held. These elections happened because leaders wanted more open and fair government ways. This marked a big shift in how the Supreme Soviet worked before.

Chairman

The Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR had several leaders over the years. Some of these leaders include Nigmat Ashurov, Tahir Pulatov, Abduvahid Khasanov, Mirsaid Mirshakar, Juraev Kandil, Usman Hasanov, Talbak Nazarov, and Muratali Tabarov. These individuals were responsible for leading the main governing body of the Tajik SSR, which was part of the larger Soviet Union.
