Tajikistan took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, People's Republic of China, from August 8 to August 24, 2008. The country sent thirteen athletes to compete in five different sports: boxing, judo, swimming, hammer throw, and freestyle wrestling.

A big moment came on August 11, 2008, when Rasul Boqiev won Tajikistan's first Olympic medal—a bronze in men's judo. This was a special achievement because it was the first Olympic medal ever won by Tajikistan.
