The Telychian is a time period in Earth's history. It was part of the early Silurian Period, which happened long, long ago. The Telychian came after the Aeronian Age and before the Sheinwoodian Age. Scientists use names like Telychian to help organize and understand the different times in Earth's past.

This age got its name from a place called Pen-lan-Telych Farm near Llandovery in Wales. The Telychian lasted from about 438.6 million years ago to about 432.9 million years ago. During this time, many things in nature were changing and evolving.

The Telychian ended with an event known as the Ireviken event, which brought some big changes to the world at that time. Studying these ancient times helps us learn about how Earth and life have developed over millions of years.

The Ireviken event was one of three smaller events that happened during the Silurian Period. It took place around the middle of this time, about 432.9 million years ago. Scientists found evidence of this event at a place called Ireviken on the island of Gotland. Many kinds of sea creatures called trilobites and conodonts did not survive during this time.
