Torsö, meaning "Thor's Island," is the largest island in Sweden's Lake Vänern, covering an area of 62.03 km2. It is located in Mariestad Municipality. Originally, Torsö was made up of two separate islands, Torsö and Fågelö. However, around 1930, the water between them was pumped out, and the former lakebed is now used for growing crops.

Today, Torsö is home to around 550 families who live there year-round, with the population tripling during the summer months when vacationers arrive. In 1994, a bridge named "Torsöbron" was opened, connecting the island to the mainland. This bridge is approximately 900 meters long.

Because of its location in the large Lake Vänern, Torsö enjoys a more maritime climate. This means the winters are milder and the island receives more sunshine hours compared to the surrounding mainland areas.
