Tweedy's crab-eating rat
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience
Tweedy's crab-eating rat (Ichthyomys tweedii) is a special kind of rodent that belongs to the Cricetidae family. You can find this unique animal in two separate places: western Ecuador and central Panama. It lives close to fast-moving streams in both old-growth and newer forests, usually between 900 and 1700 meters above sea level.
Scientists believe this rat, like others in its genus, is active mostly at night and spends time in the water. It likes to eat small water creatures, especially crabs. However, this rat faces big challenges because its home is being destroyed and its water is becoming polluted, putting its future at risk.
