United People Alliance
Adapted from Wikipedia · Discoverer experience
The United People Alliance (Portuguese: Aliança Povo Unido or APU) was a group of political parties that worked together in Portugal. It started in 1978 to take part in the next legislative election. The main parties in this alliance were the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and the Portuguese Democratic Movement (MDP-CDE).
Later, in 1983, the Ecologist Party "The Greens" also joined the group. However, the alliance ended when the MDP-CDE broke apart and stopped working together in 1987. After that, the PCP began to team up with the Ecologist Party "The Greens" in a new group called the Democratic Unity Coalition.
