Universidad Central de Chile (English: Central University of Chile), abbreviated as UCEN, is the first autonomous private university in Chile, founded in 1982 in Santiago de Chile. It is accredited in the areas of institutional management and undergraduate teaching by the National Accreditation Commission of Chile for a term of four years from December 2017 to December 2021.

The university is organized into five faculties that offer 33 undergraduate programs and an institute that provides six top-level technical careers. It also offers PhD, master's, and various training programs in areas such as Management, Business, Government, Architecture, Social Sciences, Law, Education, Health, and Technology.

The main campus of Universidad Central de Chile is located in the University District of Santiago, close to the Toesca metro station. In addition to four campuses, an extension center, and a sports center in Santiago, the university also has a campus in the city of La Serena, in the Región de Coquimbo in northern Chile. The university covers more than 89,000 square meters of infrastructure.

Faculties

The Universidad Central de Chile has five main areas of study called faculties. These include the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, which has schools for engineering and architecture. There is also the Faculty of Economy, Government and Communications, with schools for economics and business, as well as government and communications.

Other faculties include Education and Social Science, Law and Humanities, and Healthcare Science. Each of these faculties offers different schools and programs for students to choose from. There is also an Institute of Technical Careers offering technical training.

International agreements

America

The Universidad Central de Chile has agreements with many universities in America. Some of these are in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay.

Asia

The university also works with schools in Asia, including China and Korea.

Europe

In Europe, partnerships exist with universities in Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the Romani people, Spain, and Sweden.

Campus

The Universidad Central de Chile, also called UCEN, started in 1982 in Santiago de Chile. It is the first private university in Chile that runs itself without direct control from the government.

Student Federation

The Universidad Central de Chile Students Federation helps all the students of the university talk with the school leaders. It is called FEUCEN for short. Marco Velarde, a student from the School of Sociology, is the current president of FEUCEN. The federation works with the CONFECH, which is a group that represents students all over Chile.
