Veszprém County

Veszprém is an administrative county, also called a vármegye, in Hungary. The main city in the county is also named Veszprém. Veszprém county is located in western Hungary. It includes the Bakony hills and the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The county borders several other Hungarian counties: Vas, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Komárom-Esztergom, Fejér, Somogy, and Zala. The main city and capital of the county is Veszprém. The river Marcal flows along part of the western edge of the county. The total area of Veszprém county is 4,613 km².

History

Veszprém County has a long and interesting history. It has been an important area in Hungary for many years. The county takes its name from the city of Veszprém, which is also its capital. Throughout its history, the region has seen many changes and has been a part of different periods and cultures. Today, it remains a significant part of Hungary.

Demographics

Veszprém County in Hungary had a population of 346,647 in 2015, with a population density of 77 people per square kilometer.

The main ethnic groups in the county are Hungarians, with smaller groups of Germans and Roma people. In terms of religion, many people follow Roman Catholicism, but there are also those who follow Calvinistic, Lutheran, and other Christian beliefs. Some people in the county do not follow any specific religion.

Veszprém County has one urban county, 14 towns, two large villages, and 200 villages.

The county seat is Veszprém, with a population of 61,721 people. Other important towns include Pápa, Ajka, and Várpalota. There are also many smaller villages throughout the county.
