Wang Yifu

Wang Yifu (Chinese: 王义夫; pinyin: Wáng Yìfū, born 4 December 1960) is a male Chinese pistol shooter. He is one of the most successful sport shooters in Olympic history, having earned six individual Olympic medals—the first shooter ever to do so. Wang Yifu specializes in the 50 m Pistol and 10 m Air Pistol events. He made history by becoming the only shooter to win two gold medals in the men’s 10 metre air pistol, showing amazing skill and consistency over many years. His achievements have inspired many young athletes around the world.

Life and career

Wang Yifu was born on 4 December 1960 in Liaoyang, Liaoning. He began winning Olympic medals when he was just 23 years old, during the Los Angeles games. He became especially famous for shooting in the 10 metre air pistol and 50 metre pistol events.

Wang won many medals over the years, including gold medals in 1992 and 2004. Sometimes, he came very close to winning but missed by just a tiny amount. Despite these tough moments, he kept trying and achieved great success in shooting competitions around the world. He is married to another shooter, Zhang Qiuping.
