West Hudson is the western part of Hudson County, New Jersey, made up of the towns Kearny, Harrison, and East Newark. It sits on a peninsula between the Hackensack River and the Passaic River. Long ago, the Hackensack tribe of Lenape people lived here and called the place Meghgectecock, meaning “where May-apples grow.” Over time, the area changed names and became part of different counties before settling into its current shape.

West Hudson has a strong history with soccer, earning Kearny the nickname “Soccer Town, USA.” Many soccer teams have come from this area, and big stadiums like Sports Illustrated Stadium are located here. The area also has many train lines and important rail connections, including plans for a new high-speed rail line called the Gateway Project. Every year, the Saint Patrick's Day Parade brings people together in celebration.
