Sochi is a beautiful city near the Black Sea, known for its warm climate and stunning landscapes. For the Olympics, two main areas were used: Olympic Park along the coast and a mountain area called Krasnaya Polyana for snow sports.

One special part of these Olympics was the addition of new events, like women’s ski jumping and mixed-team figure skating, making it even more exciting for everyone.

Many countries participated, with athletes competing in 98 different events across 15 sports. The opening and closing ceremonies were held at Fisht Olympic Stadium, featuring colorful performances showcasing Russian culture, including ballet and classical music.

Norway topped the medal count, followed by host Russia and Canada. The medals were designed to look like the beautiful mountains of Sochi, with each one showing different parts of Russia.

The games were watched by over 2.1 billion people worldwide, making it one of the most viewed Winter Olympics ever. It was also remembered for its strict security measures to keep everyone safe during the event.
