Ada Lovelace Day

Ada Lovelace Day is a happy day that we celebrate each year on the second Tuesday of October. It is a special day to honor the amazing things women have done in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These four important areas are called STEM.

The day is named after a very smart lady named Ada Lovelace. She was one of the first people to think about computers a long time ago. Even though she lived many years back, her clever ideas still help us today.

Ada Lovelace Day began in 2009 in the United Kingdom. It was started by a lady named Suw Charman-Anderson. Now, many places around the world celebrate this day. Schools, museums, and universities hold fun events. People give talks, watch films, and work together online to share stories about women who have done great things in STEM.
