Aipysurus

Aipysurus is a special group of sea snakes that live in warm waters. These snakes are found in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. They are different from land snakes because they can breathe and move easily in the water.

These snakes have venom, which helps them catch their food and stay safe. Scientists love to study them to learn how animals can live in such different places.

One famous kind of Aipysurus is called Aipysurus laevis. It was first found and described in 1804 by a scientist named Bernard Germain de Lacépède. This snake lives near the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most beautiful underwater places.

There are many different kinds of Aipysurus snakes, each with its own name and home. Some live near Australia, while others are found near New Guinea or other islands. All of them are part of the sea snake family and have special features that help them live underwater.
