Alan Turing
Alan Turing was a clever man from London, in England. He loved numbers and solving puzzles. Because of this, he helped create the ideas that make computers work today. Many people call him the “father of computer science.”
Turing grew up in southern England. He went to school and studied very hard. He liked math and science so much that he went to Princeton University in the United States to learn even more.
During a difficult time called World War II, Turing worked at a special place named Bletchley Park. There, he helped solve secret codes. His work was very important and helped many people.
After the war, Turing kept working on new ideas. He thought about how living things grow patterns, like the spots on a leopard. Scientists tested his ideas much later and found they were right! Today, Turing is remembered for his smart thinking. His picture is even on a British money note, the Bank of England £50 note.
