Albania is a wonderful country in Southeast Europe. It sits on the Balkan Peninsula near the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. Albania shares land borders with Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Greece.
Cities and Landscapes
Albania has many beautiful places. The capital city is Tirana, which is busy and full of life. Other important cities are Durrës, Vlorë, and Shkodër. The country has tall mountains, green hills, and lovely beaches. In the north, you can find the Albanian Alps, and in the east, there are the Korab Mountains. Lakes like the Lake of Shkodër are also popular spots.
People and Culture
Albanians are friendly and proud of their traditions. They love music, dancing, and storytelling. Traditional clothes differ between the north and south. Northern men wear special trousers called Tirq, while southern men wear a white pleated garment called Fustanella. Both men and women enjoy wearing colorful jewelry.
Albania’s art and buildings show influences from many cultures, including the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Three special places in Albania are recognized by UNESCO for their importance, including Butrint and old parts of Berat and Gjirokastër.

Albania’s national animal is the golden eagle, which appears on the country’s flag. The eagle symbolizes bravery and strength. Albanian food is delicious, with dishes like Tavë kosi, a baked lamb and rice dish, and Fërgesë, a mix of peppers, tomatoes, and cheese. Football is the most popular sport, and many Albanians enjoy playing and watching it.
Albania is working toward joining the European Union and has made many improvements to its schools and healthcare. The country’s rich history and beautiful landscapes make it a special place to learn about.
