Alexander Pushkin
Alexander Pushkin was a famous writer from Russia. He is often called the greatest Russian poet and the start of modern Russian literature. People love his stories and poems even today.
Pushkin was born in Moscow into a noble family. His great-grandfather, Abram Petrovich Gannibal, was from Africa and had an amazing journey to become part of the Russian royal court. Pushkin grew up speaking French before Russian and started writing poems when he was just 15 years old.
He went to a special school called the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, where he became known for his talent. After school, he moved to St. Petersburg, the capital of the Russian Empire. Pushkin wrote many famous works, like his play Boris Godunov, his novel in verse Eugene Onegin, and the poem Ruslan and Ludmila.
Pushkin’s books and poems are loved by many. His stories have inspired famous musicians and writers. He helped shape the modern Russian language and set high standards for writing. Today, museums and statues honor him in many places around the world.
