What is Amazon Web Services?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a special part of Amazon. It helps people, companies, and governments use computers in new ways. AWS lets you use computer power when you need it and stop when you don’t. This is called "pay-as-you-go."

How Does AWS Work?

AWS works like magic for computers. You can use extra computer power just when you need it. This is called autoscaling. It saves money because you only pay for what you use.

AWS has many tools to help with different jobs. Some tools store information, some connect computers, and others run programs. One popular tool is Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud or EC2. EC2 lets you have virtual computers that look and act real. These computers can do many things like processing, storing data, and running programs.

Where is AWS?

AWS has special buildings all around the world. These buildings are called server farms. They are in many places like North America, South America, Europe, and Asia–Pacific. Having buildings in many places helps keep things running even if one building has trouble.

People and companies love AWS because it lets them get big computer power quickly and often for less money than building their own computer buildings. AWS is one of the biggest in helping people use computers in smart ways, along with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
