History of China

The story of China is one of the oldest in the world. It began near two big rivers, the Yellow River or Huang He and the Yangtze. These rivers helped people grow food and build towns a very long time ago.

Long, long ago, early humans lived in what we now call China. They used simple tools and lived near forests and lakes. Later, around 120,000 years ago, modern humans appeared. They began to farm, growing rice by the Yangtze River and millet near the Yellow River. They made pottery and built villages. This time, called the Neolithic Age, was when people learned to grow food and live together in bigger groups.

China was first united under one ruler, Qin Shi Huang, in 221 BC. He made rules about writing, weights, measures, and laws the same everywhere. This helped China grow into one big country. The land grew largest during the Han dynasty. Confucianism became an important belief and shaped Chinese culture for many years.

In 1911, a big change happened. The Xinhai Revolution led by Sun Yat-sen started the Republic of China. Later, after some difficult times, Mao Zedong announced the People's Republic of China in 1949. After Mao Zedong passed away, Deng Xiaoping led changes that opened China to the world. China grew very fast and became a very important country.

Today, China is one of the biggest and most important countries in the world. It has a rich history, beautiful landscapes, and many interesting traditions. People around the world love to learn about China's long and wonderful story.
