What Is Archery?

Archery is a fun activity where people use a bow to shoot arrows. The word "archery" comes from a Latin word meaning "bow." Many people enjoy archery as a sport or a hobby. It needs focus, practice, and patience.

A Long History

Archery is one of the oldest activities people have done. The oldest arrows ever found are from South Africa, dating back thousands of years. Many cultures, like the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Japanese, used archery for hunting and other important things. Archery has changed over time but is still enjoyed by many today.

Fun With Bows and Arrows

In archery, people use bows to shoot arrows. Bows can be made from different materials and come in many shapes. Arrows have special parts that help them fly straight. Archers wear protective gear, like a bracer for their arm and a tab or thumb ring for their fingers. There are many ways to shoot arrows, and each archer can find a method that works best for them.

Archery Around the World

Archery is enjoyed all around the world. In many places, people practice target archery, where they shoot at targets to see who can hit them most accurately. Some people also enjoy field archery or 3D Archery, where targets are hidden in wooded areas. Archery can be a fun and challenging sport for everyone!
