BBC Local Radio is a special part of the BBC. It has 39 radio stations all across England and the Channel Islands. These stations bring news, music, and fun stories to people right where they live.

Many people love to listen to BBC Local Radio. It helps friends and neighbors stay connected and learn what is happening close by.

BBC Local Radio started in 1967 with a station called BBC Radio Leicester. Soon after, more stations joined in places like Leeds, Stoke, and Sheffield. Today, there are stations all over England. They share local news and stories for the people who live in each area.

You can listen to BBC Local Radio on many devices. It is on FM, digital radio, Freeview, and BBC Sounds. Some stations can even be found on Sky UK, Freesat, and Virgin Media.

BBC Local Radio makes shows just for each place. Listeners can hear news and stories about their town or city. In the mornings, stations make their own shows. Later, some shows are shared with nearby stations. Every station works hard to give the best local news and music for its listeners.
