Barbie
Barbie is a very popular toy doll loved by many children and collectors around the world. She was created by an American businesswoman named Ruth Handler and made by a toy company called Mattel. Barbie was first introduced on March 9, 1959, and has been a favorite for over sixty years. More than a billion Barbie dolls have been sold!
Barbie and her friend, Ken, are often called the two most popular dolls in the world. Over the years, Barbie has appeared in many video games, animated films, television shows, and even a live-action film. Mattel also sells lots of fun merchandise like clothes, accessories, and friends for Barbie. Barbie has helped show that girls can have many different dreams and jobs.
Barbie was created after Ruth Handler saw her daughter Barbara playing with paper dolls that had grown-up roles. At the time, most toy dolls looked like babies, so Handler thought a doll that looked like a grown-up would be exciting. She got an idea from a German doll named Bild Lilli and worked with Mattel to create Barbie. The first Barbie doll appeared at the American International Toy Fair in New York City. She wore a pretty zebra-striped swimsuit and had either blonde or brunette hair. Even though some people were surprised by her grown-up look, Barbie quickly became a best-seller.
Barbie has changed styles many times over the years, and today she comes in many different looks, skin tones, hair colors, and body types to make every child feel included. In 2023, a special movie called Barbie made many new fans excited about this classic toy again. Barbie continues to inspire and bring joy to children everywhere.
