The Black Rat

The black rat is a small, clever animal that belongs to the rodent family. It is also called the roof rat, ship rat, or house rat. These rats have long tails and can be black, brown, or even a mix of colors.

Black rats originally came from the Indian subcontinent. Long ago, they traveled the world by riding on ships and other vehicles. Today, you can find them in many places, including homes, farms, forests, and cities across the globe.

One special place where black rats are welcomed is the Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke. In this temple, some people think the rats are sacred and even feed them. It is a unique tradition that shows how some cultures respect these animals.

These rats are good climbers and can live in many different places. They build nests in trees, cliffs, and even inside buildings. Black rats eat many things, like seeds, fruits, and leaves, and they are active mostly at night. They are quick and smart, which helps them find food and stay safe.
