Budapest

Budapest is the capital city of Hungary. It is a big, busy city with many people living there. Budapest sits on the beautiful River Danube.

Beautiful Buildings and Places

Budapest has many lovely old buildings. Two famous ones are the Hungarian Parliament and Buda Castle. These buildings look very grand and are popular with visitors.

The city also has warm water spas. People love to visit these spas to relax. Budapest is known for its tasty food too. You can find many delicious dishes in the city’s restaurants.

Fun Things to Do

Budapest is a fun place to visit. It hosts big sports events and is a popular spot for movies. Many people from around the world come to see the city each year.

You can explore beautiful parks, visit museums, or walk along the river. The city has many bridges, and some of them are very famous.

A City of Two Parts

Budapest was formed when three smaller cities—Buda, Óbuda, and Pest—joined together in 1873. Today, people sometimes still say “Pest” to mean the part of the city east of the river. “Buda” means the west side, including Óbuda.

The city has many districts, each with its own mayor and local government. This helps keep the big city organized.

Budapest is a wonderful place with history, beauty, and lots of things to see and do!
