What is a Camera?
A camera is a fun tool that helps us take pictures and videos. It captures moments and saves them so we can look back and remember happy times. Cameras can use special paper called photographic film or tiny electronic parts called an image sensor to record what they see.
Cameras have been around since the 1800s. They have changed a lot over time, becoming smaller, easier to use, and very common today. Many of our phones now have cameras inside them, making it simple to share photos with friends and family.
How Do Cameras Work?
Cameras use a lens to focus light from the world around us. This light passes through the lens and lands on the film or sensor, creating an image. Some cameras have a little window called a viewfinder that shows you exactly what will be pictured before you take it.
There are many kinds of cameras! Small, easy-to-carry ones are called compact cameras. Big cameras that make very clear pictures are called medium-format cameras. And there are special cameras just for making movies, called movie cameras.
Cameras in Our Lives
Today, almost everyone uses a camera. Your smartphone camera can take photos and videos in seconds. Cameras help us share our world with others, whether it’s a beautiful sunset, a funny moment with friends, or a special event like a birthday party.
Cameras are important in many places — from art and entertainment to news and science. They help us see the world in new ways and keep our memories alive.
