Who Was Camille Arambourg?
Camille Arambourg was a French scientist who loved to study very old bones. He was born on February 3, 1885, and passed away on November 19, 1969. He spent much of his life learning about ancient animals and humans.
Where Did He Work?
Arambourg did most of his work in North Africa. He taught about rocks and very old life at schools in Paris and other places. He learned from a famous scientist named Marcellin Boule and then taught others himself.
Why Do We Remember Him?
Camille Arambourg helped us understand more about our ancient past. He showed that early humans called Neanderthals were smarter than people thought. A special flying reptile, called Arambourgiania, was named after him to honor his work. Even a fish, Enteromius arambourgi, carries his name to remember his discoveries.
