Chinese Palaces

A Chinese palace is a very big and special home. It was where the emperor and important people lived and worked. These palaces are huge and have many beautiful buildings.

Palaces have large halls for big events, small buildings like temples, towers, homes, walkways, and lovely gardens. They are all inside big walls and moats.

The biggest palace ever built was the Weiyang Palace. Today, the largest palace that still stands is the Forbidden City in Beijing. It was built a long time ago and is very famous.

Palaces were not just for the emperor. Sometimes, other royal family members had their own homes in the city. Emperors also liked to visit special garden estates away from the busy city. These gardens were quiet places to relax and enjoy nature.
