Chris Brasher

Chris Brasher was a famous British athlete and writer. He was born on August 21, 1928, in Georgetown, British Guiana. Chris loved running and climbing mountains when he was young.

Chris became very good at running. He won a gold medal in a race called the steeplechase at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He also helped his friend Roger Bannister run a special race in less than four minutes.

Later, Chris worked as a sports writer. He helped start the London Marathon in 1981. This big race happens every year in London and many people from all over the world come to run.

Chris also made a special comfortable boot called the Brasher Boot for people who like to walk or run. He passed away in 2003, but people still remember him for his love of sports and for helping create the London Marathon.
