Coat of Arms of Argentina

The coat of arms of Argentina is a special picture that tells the story of the country. It shows a bright sun, called the Sun of May, which shines like a new beginning. This sun is also on the flag of Argentina.

In the middle of the coat of arms, two hands shake. This shows friendship and peace between the provinces of Argentina. The hands hold a special stick called a pike. On top of the pike is a hat that stands for freedom.

The colors blue and white are the same as Argentina’s flag. These colors remind us of the time when Argentina became free from Spain in 1810. The shaking hands and the pike together show Argentina’s motto: “in unity and freedom.”

Many places in Argentina have their own special coats of arms too. Each one is unique and shows the pride of that place.
