The Crusades

The Crusades were special trips made a very long time ago. They began around the year 1095 when a leader named Pope Urban II asked people to help protect important places. These places were in a part of the world called the Holy Land, especially a city named Jerusalem.

People from Europe traveled far to these places. They wanted to visit holy spots connected to important stories. Many saw these trips as adventures to show bravery and devotion.

The Crusades brought new friends and ideas between faraway lands. People shared stories, foods, and goods, changing life in both Europe and the Middle East. Even today, these old trips are remembered in books and stories.
