Welcome to Dallas!

Dallas is a big, busy city in the state of Texas in the United States. It is the ninth-largest city in the whole country, with lots of people living there. Dallas works closely with its neighbor, Fort Worth, to form a big area called the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. This area has over eight million people and is the fourth-largest in the United States.

A Growing City

Dallas started growing when important railroads came through the city. These railroads helped move cotton, cattle, and later oil. Today, Dallas is a very important place for many things. It has many highways and one of the world's busiest airports, the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The city is also a strong center for jobs, with many big companies having offices there. There are also many colleges and universities nearby, making Dallas a lively place with people from all over.

Fun Things to Do

Dallas has many fun places to visit! You can go to the Dallas Zoo, which is the first and largest zoo in Texas. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is great for learning about nature and science. There are also many parks, like White Rock Lake, where you can enjoy nature, and Klyde Warren Park, which has food trucks and fun activities.

Sports and Entertainment

Dallas loves sports! The city has two big basketball teams: the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Wings. Nearby, in Arlington, you can watch the Dallas Cowboys play football and the Texas Rangers play baseball. There are also many places to enjoy music and arts, like the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Learning and Growing

Dallas has many schools, from public schools to private ones, and many colleges and universities. Some well-known schools include Southern Methodist University and University of Texas at Dallas. These schools help make Dallas a place where lots of people come to learn and work.

Dallas is a city full of energy, with lots to see and do. Whether you are interested in nature, sports, or learning, Dallas has something for everyone!
