What is Dance?

Dance is a fun way to move your body! It is an art form where people use their bodies to make beautiful movements. These movements can tell a story or just be for fun. Dancers can make up moves on the spot or plan them ahead, which is called choreography.

Where Do We See Dance?

Dance happens all around the world! People dance for many reasons: to celebrate, to tell stories, or just to enjoy moving with music. Some dances are performed on a stage by skilled dancers, like in ballet or modern dance. Others are done with friends and family, like square dance or line dance.

Dancing With Music

Most dances have music to move with. Sometimes dancers also play instruments while they dance. Music and dance work together to create something special. For example, the waltz is a dance that matches a certain type of music.

Dance Around the World

Different places have their own special dances. In India, there is Bharatanatyam, a dance with beautiful hand movements. In China, people perform the dragon dance during festivals. In Africa, dances help bring communities together during celebrations.

Why Dance is Fun

Dancing is not just fun—it’s good for you too! It helps your heart stay strong, makes you more flexible, and can even help you relax. Many people love to dance because it makes them feel happy and lets them make new friends. Whether you’re dancing alone in your room or with a group of friends, dance is a wonderful way to enjoy moving and having fun!
