Domoni: A Special Town on Anjouan

Domoni is a lovely town on the island of Anjouan in the Indian Ocean. It is the second largest town on the island and sits along the beautiful east coast. Long ago, Domoni was the most important city on Anjouan, but today the capital is Mutsamudu.

Domoni has a very rich history. People have lived there since the year 1200! It was an important place for trading with Africa, Persia, and many other faraway lands. Many leaders once lived in Domoni, and the town is still remembered for its important past.

The town has many old and interesting buildings. You can see houses built a long time ago, with beautiful carved doors and stone work. Domoni is also famous for its colorful crafts, like wooden carvings and embroidery. The people of Domoni love music and have many special instruments and performances.
