Welcome to Egypt!
Egypt is a wonderful country in northeast Africa and a tiny part in Asia through the Sinai Peninsula. It is next to the Mediterranean Sea, Palestine, Israel, Sudan, the Sahara, and Libya. The big city is Cairo, and another important city is Alexandria. Egypt has lots of people—over 107 million—making it the biggest country in the Arab world.
Ancient Wonders
Egypt has an amazing history that goes back thousands of years along the Nile Delta. People lived near the Nile River and created one of the world's earliest civilizations, called Ancient Egypt. They built huge pyramids like the ones at Giza. These pyramids are some of the oldest buildings still standing today. Ancient Egyptians also made early writing and had interesting ideas about life and the world.
Modern Days
Today, Egypt is a busy country with a strong economy. It is known for its farming, especially along the Nile River. Egypt grows lots of wheat, fruits, and vegetables. The country also has beautiful beaches and famous places to visit, like the Giza Necropolis. People enjoy sports, especially football, and love to celebrate festivals like Sham Ennessim, which marks the start of spring.
Tasty Food
Egyptian food is delicious and comes from the rich land near the Nile. Popular dishes include falafel, which are little fried balls made from chickpeas, and shawarma, a tasty wrap with meat and veggies. Bread, called Eish baladi, is eaten at almost every meal.
