What is Environmental Science?

Environmental science is a special way of learning about our world. It mixes ideas from biology, chemistry, and physics to help us understand nature. People use this science to solve problems about the air, water, and land. It helps us keep our planet healthy and safe for all living things.

Environmental science became very important in the 1960s and 1970s. Books like Silent Spring by Rachel Carson helped people see why we need to take care of our planet. Big events, like an oil spill, showed us that we need new ways to protect our environment.

Today, environmental science helps us make good choices to keep our world safe. It uses many kinds of science to find answers and create rules that protect nature and people.

Why Do We Study Environmental Science?

Environmental science looks at how nature works together. It helps us understand big issues that affect our air, water, and land. For example, scientists study how plants and animals live together and how chemicals can change our health. They also look at how we can keep our rivers and forests clean and strong.

People all around the world work together to learn more about the environment. They study things like weather, pollution, and how to save energy. By learning more, we can make better choices to protect our beautiful planet for everyone.
