Farley Mowat

Farley Mowat was a Canadian writer who loved nature and animals. He was born on May 12, 1921, in Belleville, Ontario. When he was little, his family lived in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Later, they moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Mowat wrote many books that people read all over the world. Two of his most famous books are People of the Deer and Never Cry Wolf. Never Cry Wolf is about his time with wolves in the Canadian Arctic. This story was even made into a film!

Mowat also cared a lot about the environment. He spoke up about protecting nature and wild places. Many people listened to him because of his strong beliefs and beautiful writing.

In 1970, he got a special award called the Vicky Metcalf Award for Children's Literature for his great writing. Farley Mowat passed away on May 6, 2014, but his books are still loved and read by many.
