What is Fennoscandia?
Fennoscandia is a big land area in Europe. It is a peninsula that includes parts of three countries: Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Some smaller areas in Russia are also part of Fennoscandia.
Where is Fennoscandia?
Fennoscandia stretches up to the cold north. It has snowy forests and tall mountains. The lands here share similar plants, animals, and ways of life. People in these places have many customs in common, even though they speak different languages.
Why Do We Hear About Fennoscandia?
The name Fennoscandia comes from two old words: Fennia for Finland and Scandia for Scandinavia. A clever scientist from Finland named Wilhelm Ramsay first used this name a long time ago, in 1898. The rocks in Fennoscandia are very old and make the land special and strong.
