Fontainebleau Rock Climbing

Fontainebleau is a beautiful place in France where people love to climb big rocks. This special kind of climbing is called bouldering. It is fun because you don’t need ropes — just strong arms and good balance!

People have been climbing here since the 1800s. Today, Fontainebleau is one of the best places in the whole world for bouldering. Many climbers visit from all over to try its many paths.

The rocks in Fontainebleau are very special. They have round shapes and look like giant puzzle pieces. Climbers use colorful paint marks on the rocks to show the way. Each color tells them how hard the climb will be. White means “easy,” like for children, and red means “very hard.”

Paris is not far away, making Fontainebleau easy to reach. The forest around is full of trees and makes a perfect home for climbers. Whether you are just starting or very good, Fontainebleau has a climb for everyone!
