Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi
Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was a French artist who loved making sculptures and paintings. He was born on August 2, 1834, in Colmar, a pretty town in France. When he was very young, his father passed away, and his family moved to Paris, where he learned to draw and sculpt.
Bartholdi became famous for designing the tall and beautiful Statue of Liberty. This giant statue stands in New York City in the United States. It welcomes visitors and shows friendship between France and the United States. The statue was finished in 1886 and is still one of the most famous landmarks in the world.
Besides the Statue of Liberty, Bartholdi made many other statues and sculptures in different countries. Some of his works are in his hometown of Colmar, where a museum called the Musée Bartholdi shows his creations. Bartholdi’s art brought joy and inspiration to many people around the world.
